Tact Constructions completed the construction and fit-out of a new planetarium space within Bendigo’s Discovery Science & Technology Centre, transforming part of the existing heritage building into an immersive educational and entertainment environment.

The works involved construction of the purpose-built planetarium enclosure, internal walls and access areas, specialist finishes and the installation of the large suspended dome and projection environment. The project required careful integration of the new structure within the existing building while retaining the exposed brickwork and original timber roof structure that characterise the heritage space.

Detailed coordination was required between the building works, specialist planetarium equipment, lighting, audiovisual systems and acoustic requirements. The completed space provides a unique immersive experience while successfully combining modern technology with the character of the existing historic building.
